Ok do you bring a gift to an engagement party?? NOT A BRIDAL SHOWER an engagement party.?
So my friend is having her engagement party and I decided I am not going, i’m going to tell her i’m going to cedar point instead, OR I actually will go to cedarpoint… anyways I guess I could still get her a gift but do you bring a gift to an engagement party, ugh thats so stupid why do people have engagement parties… just to waste people time and tell them the “story of their love” ugh thank GOD I’m not going. I mean how selfish… like you have an engagement party, a bridal shower and a bachlorette party WHATEVER do I need to bring a gift?

An engagement party is not a gift giving event. Its to formally announce their engagement. For this just a card will suffice, if you choose.
A bachelor(ette) party is also not a gift giving event, its a night (or sometimes weekend) out with the bride or groom to celebrate their upcoming wedding, each guest pays their own way.
A Bridal shower is a gift giving event, the concept of this is to “shower” the honoree(s) with gifts of items they will need to establish their new home together. If the couple is already living together or has been married before, its tacky to have a bridal shower.
Gifts for the wedding, are completely optional.
If you are opting out of any of these events just RSVP no, you don’t have to give them the reason.
On a side note, I’m going to Cedar Point too! I just got my tickets today! Yay roller coaster fun!
