How much is 1.52 carat solitaire diamond ring of 18 karat gold band today is worth? rated 5 in 1975?
I have a ring family and I wonder how it may be worthwhile. It was purchased for $ 4000 in 1975, is a 1.52 carat diamond solitaire in a band of 18 karat gold. Any ideas?
I think you have to tell us a little more than the diamond to help. A 1.52 carat round diamond can range in price from $ 2.200 to $ 44.000. (I took numbers in a search engine diamonds, diamonds Price Guru.) Can you post the diamond shape? Are you sure he was "qualified" a 5, or is that possibly only the ring size? If you do not have access to complete information on the diamond (clarity grade, color, cut grade) may get a qualified laboratory for gem. (Even better, as the GIA, only charge $ 100 or more per carat.) If you are thinking of selling or buying insurance he is likely to want to see the grades. I'll keep looking to see if the post is updated with more information.

Diamond grading reports are certificates from the Gemological Institute of America, an independent third party laboratory specializing issued grading these precious stones is. I suggest that you do not buy a gem without.
Certification by GIA offers you a written confirmation of the weight, cut, clarity and Carat stone you're looking for. This is comparable to that trust is always a CARFAX report on a car instead of with the car dealer, because the information is coming from a third party with nothing to the transaction feel you can get comfortable that the information is true and correct and armed with this information, you may be able to better Price, by negotiating with the actual value of wholesale stone in question.
Another reason that a diamond certificate is so important that, when you buy a higher quality diamonds, which will later become a part of it is almost impossible to anywhere near what the stone is worth it can decide, without confirmation that it is what you say, it is. Think about it, would you buy an expensive product from a stranger without a serious third party documentation?
By step to the Diamond Grading Report any question of the quality away and you can see exactly what value your prospective purchase, you to keep from paying a lot and assure you the quality you get.
After completion of the transaction you want to be sure a copy of the certificate send to insurance company so that they can add to your policy. This will prevent a real company with undeniable proof of the value, if Your diamond is stolen or lost at a later date.
If a dealer that you can speak to you about a diamond is not ready for a certificate to or create them say to you that it is more expensive to buy a certified diamond then, no business with them, ever. This is a solid indication that they either Peddler of inferior quality merchandise or just given it all crooks. The only certification that you should accept is from the GIA, as are most trusted and respected in the industry and the oldest.
A purchase like this is a serious investment and should not be made without the acquisition of certification. It saves you a lot of trouble and grief in the future.
