Since centuries Emerald has been an epitome of richness and royalty. Doused in its lush green color it has enticed and attached itself with names like Cleopatra, King Jalal-un-din Akbar, Princess Diana and many more rich and famous personalities. Type of stone:
Rules of buying a loose stone differ from buying jewelry. While buying a loose stone one has to look at the high quality stone with a favorable color. On the other hand when buying the jewelry it’s more important that the stone agrees with the design and is comfortable in wearing. For instance concentrated vivid green stone is considered better than yellowish green color but if design demands a yellowish green stone then it is better. On one hand where emerald with blue as secondary hue appears warm, the one with blue overtone is cold.
Type of metal:
Traditional designs of rings mostly come in yellow gold as yellow gold was regarded as the companion metal for emerald. But these days’ contemporary designs have broken the trend by bringing some of the good flavors of rings in white gold and platinum. While vivid green emerald gels good with both yellow and white precious metal, yellowish green goes with yellow gold and bluish green goes with white gold and platinum.
Type of design:
When it comes to ring designs other than looking at the overall design and budget one has to decide whether it is for daily wear or occasional wear. Because emeralds are softer in nature if you are buying a ring for daily wear go for safe settings such as bezel or gypsy. If it is for occasional wear you can go for designs accentuated with diamonds and other colored gemstones. Emerald cocktail rings are equally indulging.
