Marquise Diamond Engagement
Can he propose with…..?
We are planning our wedding already but I do not have a ring yet. Meaning we want to get married but havent bought a ring yet. He has a very pretty engagement ring from before (he was engaged about a month in the past before we met) I have no problem with just getting this ring sized to me. The ring is a 14 kt white gold marquise cut with a diamond that i am not sure of the size but I like it. If we purchase a ring I will end up getting the same cut and metal anyway. Is it ok for him to propose to me with that ring… or does he need to buy a new one?(he feels like that one isnt “big” enough as far as the diamond)
Well, personally, I wouldn’t want it. But if you’re okay with it, don’t worry about etiquette. But hey, if he feels the diamond isn’t big enough, let him buy you a bigger one. That could be his way of hinting that he’s not entirely comfortable with the idea of giving you the old ring. He’s going to have to look at it every day, too, and maybe it brings up memories he’d rather not associate with you. Perhaps he can trade in the original ring towards the price of the new one.
