how much for a engagement ring?
hi guys and happy new year,
few days ago a brought a loose diamond, so i need to know how much it will cost for a ring
and how much to set it in to the ring here in the uk.

well, you already have the loose diamond so you can shop around for settings. I previously had a $1700 setting for my ring with side stones and then changed loose diamonds and choose a $599 plain cathedral setting that is lovely and simple. I know Dreamwea said to not get a cathedral setting, but I have been wearing it a year and work with my hands as a school teacher and have had no problem whatsoever. It has never caught on anything. It looks so pretty and is a bit more fancy than my friend who has aTiffany 6 prong that sits rather low.
I would recommend a yellow gold setting to compliment the color of your diamond, as an I color may look yellowish in a white gold or platinum, but it look very bright in yellow gold because the tones are in the same family. If you put a yellowish diamond next to silver metal it will look more yellow, typically. Just check first to see if your girl likes yellow gold because I know I personally would not want yellow gold .
Is the diamond a round brilliant? I would recommend a simple solitaire setting as it is classic and beautiful and will never go out of style.
When you get it set, the cost will depend on if you go with a platinum head. We got a 6 prong platinum head for security. Plus it compliments the round diamond nicely. The platinum cost more, but it is very secure. If you go four prong, it accentuates the “corners”of the diamond and will actually give a round diamond a bit of a squarish look to the eye. 6 prong is the classic look.
