What comes after heavy rainfall?
Raindrops on Birch
It rained and rained, throughout last night
A downpour, drowning all in sight
Soaking the ground and drenching leaves
But what did all of this achieve?
Early morning on branches wet
Droplets of rain like teardrops set
Crystal beads in thousands seen
Between the yellows and the green
Translucent, clear, refracting light
Drops sway, like lanterns from a height
Sparking gems, a radiant scene
Diamonds for a fairy queen
Admire the moment while you may
It doesn’t happen every day
Short lived in time, this gorgeous view
A memory to remain with you
I would agree about the last stanza maybe being preachy which to me detracts from a very fluid end rhyming poem with some great lines. You also need to adjust your meter on S2L3. S3L4, and S4L4. I think you also meant ’sparkling’ on S3L3. Overall though, a nice read. Post more.
